What is it?

CoQ10 is a vitamin-like compound that is fat soluble, and it functions in all cells of the body, serving as a coenzyme for several key enzymatic steps, and doubles up as an antioxidant. It helps to destroy free radicals before they can cause damage to the normal cells within the body.

Coenzyme Q10 is naturally found in the highest concentration within organs and muscles which demands the most energy such as your heart.

Dietary sources include poultry, meat and fish.

So, how does it work?

Our bodies are continuously working on a mission to generate enough energy to support the performance of every cell.

Increased intake of coenzyme Q10, through whole foods and/or supplementation, can help the body to keep up the demand for energy, especially when demand way exceeds production in times of stress, including the stress of physical exertion on the cardiovascular system as well as the stress of muscle recovery from athletic injury.

Performance Benefit

Improved oxygen uptake in the heart and skeletal muscles, leading to increases in maximal aerobic capacity, muscle endurance and overwork capacity. Coenzyme Q10 is also touted as a recovery agent, supporting to reduce exercise-induced muscle injury.

Common usage

CoQ10 is available in all forms, and soft gels tend to be better absorbed than capsules.
