Before we dive into whether a weak heart can be strengthened, we’ll talk about why heart health is so important for us to perform our day-to-day activities. Good health starts with a healthy heart. Your heart pumps nutrient-rich blood throughout your body, supplying oxygen and removing waste products. From oxygen transportation to immune system functioning, it is the heart’s central role in sustaining life.
Too much weakness in your heart will make it difficult for it to pump blood properly to the organs and tissues in your body and this progressive disease is termed as cardiomyopathy. The cause of cardiomyopathy can be coronary artery disease, heart attacks, or other health conditions. Sometimes it is due to genetics, but good news is that you can minimize the impact of this disease by having a healthy heart.
Factors that contribute to a healthy heart includes being physically active, eating healthily as well as getting sufficient sleep. Exercising regularly can lower your cardiovascular disease risk and even reverse some risk factors, such as being overweight or having high blood pressure. In order to achieve a complete level of fitness, different types of exercises should also be performed such as combining strength training with cardio.
We’ll discuss more on how strength training and cardio exercises can help us to strengthen our heart in the next post.
