Joan Liew is much more than the sum of her parts — and her prestigious titles. Her journey to becoming a bodybuilding champion and pioneer in the personal training industry — starting at the tender age of 17 — is deeply inspiring yet relatable.

Now in her early 40s and in her prime, Joan continues to actively pursue her dreams in the fitness and bodybuilding realm, setting her sights on competing in the professional bodybuilding circuit. She also runs Fitness Factory — a successful personal training and fitness consultancy — alongside fellow bodybuilding champion Augustine Lee. Joan is also an advocate for empowering men and women in their prime through effective and sustainable fitness and nutrition solutions.

MEET THE REAL JOAN LIEW — IN HER OWN WORDS:

What first inspired you to explore fitness and bodybuilding as your lifelong passion and career?

I already had an interest in fitness from a young age. It all began when I was 8 years old, when a teacher brought my class to the library to pick a book to read. Somehow, I chose a book entitled, “Keep Fit”. The book cover featured a big-haired lady in leotards and legwarmers. I was intrigued.
